Solwaybank Wind Farm

SOLWAYBANK WIND FARM

RES is proposing a 15 turbine wind farm at Solwaybank.  The wind farm is expected to have an installed capacity of approximately 30MW.  This means that the proposed wind farm is estimated to generate electricity equivalent to the average annual demand of more than 17,000 households - or approximately 25% of the households in Dumfries and Galloway*.

RES submitted a planning application to Dumfries and Galloway Council in 2009 for a 21-turbine scheme approximately 8km south west of Langholm.  As a result of consultation with statutory consultees and local residents RES decided to modify the scheme by reducing the number of proposed turbines.  As this constituted a material change to our planning application, RES withdrew the application in July 2010.

The location of the Solwaybank Wind Farm is shown below.
